Local Food Crisis
Due to the Federal Government shut-down, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will not be distributed beginning November 1st. Here in Alameda, those most affected are Coast Guard families who are not being paid their salaries and families receiving SNAP benefits.
If you would like to help, you may:
1) Donate directly to the Alameda Food Bank. For each $1 the Food Bank receives, they are able to purchase the equivalent of $7 worth of food.
i) via Credit Card to: Alameda Food Bank Donation
ii) via check mailed to: Alameda Food Bank, P.O. Box 2167, Alameda CA 94501
2) Donate to First Presbyterian Church, Alameda and designate "Food Bank"; on your check or digital donation.
3) Bring the following food items to church. We will distribute directly to people who come to our door and periodically deliver the food to the Alameda Food Bank.

Canned goods
Rice
Pasta
Diapers size 1-5
Baby formula
Feminine hygiene products
Toilet paper
Cleaning supplies

Join an outstanding Dine & Connect volunteer crew.
Wash, chop, dice, slice, and cook up a “stick-to-your-ribs” hot meal
for more than 100 unsheltered Alamedans.
Enter through the church kitchen door off of Chestnut Street for the
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM shift and/or 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM shift.
All volunteers are welcome.
All people needing a hot meal are welcome.

If you do, you can help a newcomer to Alameda!
Spend an hour a week in casual conversation with an adult English learner.
Join us as we offer English language learners a chance
to improve their conversational language skills.
